Codeine was once a son of a rich mafia leader who was in disputes with Evan Belmont despite him being in the drug ring himself. Because of the feud between the two, violence was always rampant in their home. He witnessed his brother get killed by a gunshot in one of his father's fights. Having encountered a tragic event, Codeine started to view the world as unsafe and cold, that nothing good will ever happen, and decided he wanted to lose his eye sight by inflicting permanent blindness using a harsh chemical substance on himself. Once he permanently lost his vision, all his other senses heightened. Sensory input was much stronger than before. He used this to his advantage and left his home to work for the Belmont drug ring to take his revenge for his late brother but he was used in an experiment instead. He was made to ingest large doses of codeine, the adverse effects made him euphoric and strangely caused his pupils to dilate. This made him have lucid senses. His senses were heightened even more, though very vague he started seeing his environment in black and white figures. With his senses heightened, he is able to tell if a person is telling the truth or lying, he's sense of hearing was 10 times greater than an average blind man. He fights using a gun and his instincts
